Welcome to Sophie Meredith Silversmithing. I'm based in Southbourne in Dorset and I offer a variety of creative silver jewellery making experiences, weekend workshops and longer six week silversmithing courses. I also offer private bookings for special occasions etc.

Beginners Bracelet Making Workshops
Make a silver bracelet/bangle to fit you. Explore the joys of hammering metal, soldering and more! There will be a selection of design choices suitable for beginners to choose from and you will go away with a bracelet that fits you! Workshops are relaxed & fun. No experience required.

Gemstone Ring Making class
If you love gems and want to add a splash of colour to your everyday wardrobe, then this workshop is for you!
Make yourself a wide band ring with a central gem ring that you can spin or you can choose to make it fixed. If you prefer something more dainty or interchangeable then you may prefer to make a set of three stacking rings with a central gemstone ring !
Various gemstones to choose from!
Learn some basic silversmithing, hammer texturing, soldering and setting your gem. Ideal for all abilities.

Silver necklace & earrings workshop
Join me in the studio for a relaxed 3 hour silver workshop. I will guide you step by step through various processes to transform sterling silver into your own heart or circle link necklace and earrings We will explore forming sterling silver wire, soldering and hammering on this fun beginners class.
Cost is £135 each
All silver costs to make your necklace and earrings are included
Tea and coffee are also provided.

Make a seaglass ring
Come and create your own unique seaglass jewellery. Join me in the studio and explore traditional silversmithing. Over the two consecutive evenings, we will be using sterling silver and sheet, forming, soldering and bezel setting your piece of seaglass to make your own unique seaglass ring.
This workshop is ideal for all abilities and beginners are also welcome as class size is kept small. That does mean spaces are limited so book early.
The cost is £155 for the two evenings which includes your silver
Please bring any seaglass you have so I can help you select the best/suitable piece. If you don't have seaglass I will have a small selection to choose from.

Silver flower ring workshop
Join me in the studio for a morning of jewellery making fun! We will be exploring sterling silver to make a flower ring as shown above. I will demonstrate step by step using a variety of tools and techniques and you will follow each process to make your ring.
This workshop is ideal for all abilities and beginners are also welcome as class size is kept small. That does mean spaces are limited so book early.

Beginners 6 week silver jewellery making courses
Join me for an introduction to silversmithing here in Southbourne. Each class is 2.45 hrs long and run on consecutive weeks. You will be introduced to traditional silversmithing and guided through different processes; I will be demonstrating a variety of jewelry making techniques using sterling silver, exploring filing, soldering, texturing, forming and depending on ability some basic stone setting. As this is a beginners course each project will be scripted to allow me to demonstrate various techniques and allow you to come away with four finished jewellery items and a whole set of new skills which you can practice and explore further at home should you wish. This is a fun, creative and relaxing course where you will meet like-minded people, chat, learn and develop fundamental skills required to make beautiful silver jewelry.
Cost £390 which INCLUDES all silver costs to cover the 4 projects that i will guide you through to enable you to practice a variety of beginners techniques.

Private Parties
Private Party- For those looking for birthday celebration, special occasions, hen parties, work team building fun or family get together then why not organise a private jewellery making party. These can be for a minimum of 4 to a maximum of 7 per party. We can arrange a date that suits you to make either rings or bangles! Week days and weekends. To discuss in more detail and check availability please click PRIVATE PARTY link below!
