Welcome to Sophie Meredith Silversmithing. I offer a variety of creative silver jewellery making experiences, weekend, occasional midweek workshops and our longer six week silversmithing courses. I also offer private bookings for special occasions etc.

Beginners Bangle Making Workshops
Make a silver bangle to fit you. Explore the joys of hammering metal, soldering and more! There will be a selection of design choices suitable for beginners to choose from. Workshops are relaxed & fun.

Beginners 6 week silver jewellery making courses
Join me for an introduction to silversmithing here in Southbourne. Each class is 3hrs long run on consecutive weeks. You will be introduced to traditional silversmithing and guided through different processes; I will be demonstrating a variety of jewellery making techniques using sterling silver, such as filing, soldering, texturing, forming and basic stone setting. This course is ideal for beginners giving you the chance to learn new skills and you will come away with 4 items of jewellery such as ring, bracelet, pendant etc. This is a fun, creative and relaxing course where you will meet like-minded people, chat, learn, practice and develop valuable jewellery making skills which you can use at home should you wish to!
Cost £360 which INCLUDES all silver costs for your projects.

If you love gems and want to add a splash of colour to your everyday wardrobe, then this workshop is for you!
Make yourself a wide band ring with a central gem ring or a set of three stacking rings with a central gemstone ring !
Various gemstones to choose from!
Learn some basic silversmithing, hammer texturing, soldering and setting your gem. Ideal for beginners too.

5 weeks - 5 rings- ring making course
Love rings and want to explore silver ring making then this course is for you! Each week i will demonstrate a different technique, guiding you through the processes step by step. We will be forming, soldering, melting, twisting, doming and more to create five rings in sterling silver for you to take away, wear and cherish. Spaces are limited so book in advance. To secure your space click the button below to pay a non-refundable deposit of £50. The remaining balance will be required a month before course starts.

Seaglass evening Jewellery Making Course
Love sea-glass? Transform your beach finds into a unique ring or pendant on my introductory short evening courses.
These 2 week evening courses are ideal for beginners or those with some experience. Over 2 evenings you will be guided through the technique of stone setting (amongst other traditional silversmithing techniques) to create your unique sea^glass jewellery.
Please note that you must be able to commit to both evenings as you will start your ring on the first evening & finish it on the second!. (You will need to bring a selection of sea^glass. I have a selection for those who haven't found any :) Chains will be available to purchase if you opt for the pendant.

Taster workshop for friends/family Textured stacking rings workshop
Looking for creative relaxation with friends or family? Join me on this 3hr introduction to basic ring making. This workshop is the perfect way to spend time with friends or indeed mums and daughters who have not explored jewellery making before and want to spend time together being creative (minimum age 14 yrs) On this workshop you will be guided through various traditional silversmithing techniques including, forming, filing and soldering to create a set of four textured stacking rings to fit you! No experience is needed as i keep the class size small to allow for lots of guidance and support. Book early to secure your space.
Cost is £ 180 for two people All silver included

Monday afternoon mindfulness jewelry making class
Everyone needs a little mindfulness to start the month! Join us for an afternoon of pure relaxation as i guide you through various traditional silversmithing techniques to create a piece of jewellery to take home and wear. This months Monday mindfulness we will be making a gorgeous pair of hammer textured hanging hoop earrings using sterling silver. No experience is needed as i keep the class size small to allow for lots of guidance and support. Book early to secure your space.

Private Parties
Private Party- For those looking for birthday celebration, special occasions, hen parties, work team building fun or family get together then why not organise a private jewellery making party. These can be for a minimum of 3 to a maximum of 7 per party. We can arrange a date that suits you to make either rings or bangles! Week days and weekends.
